Part 2 from the blog about Childrens Classics 19th Oct.

Well, I am not sure how to just add on to a finished blog….but this is a continuation of the blog I wrote this morning. I had got up to no41…Doctor Doolittle is on the list of books that I need to acquire. Here is the rest of that list…Jane Eyre, Tess of the D Iberville, The Invisible Man, The Mystery of the disappearing cat, Ivanhoe, The Last of the Mohicans and The Children of the New Forest.

I have been at the Cancer Research shop I volunteer and came home with 8 “new” classics. Sherlock Holmes, The BFG, What Katy Did, The Wind in the Willows, another copy of Tom Browns Schooldays and two adult classics…..Diary of Anne Frank and The Day of The Triffids.

As well to children I have stepped into the adult section and have started another list. I have the two that I mention above. The other two I have are To Kill a Mockingbird and Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe. The ones on the “to get” list is. Ring of Bright Water by Gavin Maxwell, On the Beach by Nevill Shute, Lord of the Flies by William Golding, Earth Abides and 1984 by H.G.Wells.

I am also fascinated by the dedications that authors put in their books so…yes there is a list…To the memory of my mother and father…Little Women…To my dear son-PaulBland behind whose knowledge of railways my ignorance confidently seeks …The Railway Children…For my daughters…Tessa, Ophelia, Lucy and for my godson Edmond Pollinger…Charlie and the great glass Elevator…For Olivia 20th April 1955 -17th Nov 1962…The BFG…to Mrs Arnold of Fox Lane. This book is (without permission )dedicated by the author who owns more than he can nearly acknowledge or forget to her and her.

Words put in my members of the public…..Book used to belong to “Merrill”…….Matilda…School. Stamp-Holy Trinity. C.E.M. School Addison Rd Guildford…The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. and London/Singapore/Perth May 4th 1995…Fried Green Tomatoes.

Well, I have added what I have been whimsical with and put it in my notebook and maybe part 3 will come. Hope I have not bored you with Books.
