The ABC’s of Carol’s mind

The ABC’s of Carol’s mind…….this will be my new theme for my blogs, I plan to work my way through the alphabet. Starting with A.B.C.

A…….Animals

I have had many pets during my childhood……mainly dogs….usually called Lady or Lassie……but I remember Jess and Penny. They were always part of the family in the background, but I have to admit I really never took very much notice of them.

My mum and dad had a myna bird….whose name I cannot remember It was something that my mum always wanted and she got it to speak many words and it spoke in the tone of my mum’s voice….so much after she died that my dad could not handle it so sold the bird along with the cage etc.

Grandad had a canary….a yellow one called Pete…..he was always a part of the Saturday afternoons that I used to spend with my grandad….taking him a piece of brisket, tea anything he needed. I miss those afternoons…I would go to the village shop for what he needed. He used to cook me tea boiled bantam eggs/bread and butter. Grandad also used to keep chickens….which will come further down the alphabet.

While I have been married we have had cats…Billy Smith, Fluffy, Gusto, Tigger and Shadow. Would still love a cat but as we are getting older it’s not worth it.

I also remember a Budgie….think we called him Bobby.

Have never been on a horse but had an experience in the back lane at my grandad’s when stoking he decided to nibble away at my cardigan.

The scariest thing was being head-butted by a cow while on holiday at my friends in Bridport  Dorset. My friend said she was just being friendly. I had not realized how big their heads were

B…..Blogs and The Beatles

I really enjoy blogging and hope that not all of them are boring. Also, a big thank you to no1 aka TJ for setting this up for me…also set up my laptop for video calls (TJ – – Your welcome! – I’m the one that proofread! – also add a bit of formatting along the way too)

B is also for The Beatles…..along with The Stones the music of the ’60s. My favourite Beatle was George…I remember getting very upset at work on the ward…I was in room 7 when I heard on someone’s radio that George had died…I burst into tears.

C….crisps and chocolate.

First of all crisps…..My hubby used to work at Crisp factory in Peterlee…Tudor Crisps which became Walkers. And he loved them always eating them and to this day still does but prefers Pringles these days.

My favourite flavours are plain and the old discontinued beef and onion. I have just triggered the memory of making “different sandwich filling” and almost half the class did cheese/crisps one.

Secondly for chocolate.…who does not like chocolate. I remember my mum liking mars bar sliced in a sandwich….yuck…I couldn’t. Who remembers the bars of Cadbury rose bars of chocolate……made up of 6 chocolates in a bar.

I am diabetic Type 2 and have to watch my chocolate intake but I can share my favourites. Always liked Turkish Delight…but they will be too sweet and sugary for me now. I liked Toffee Crisp, Boosters and good old Cadburys Dairy milk. The list could go on and on……but I will leave you there until next time when I will do D.E.F. byeeee.
