Concerts and meeting/seeing “celebrity’s”

Here I am again…this blog post is about the people I have seen performing stage shows/concerts or I have met them somehow.

1. David Essex…I have to put him first. Seen him on stage at least 9/10times.Concerts/musicals, plays and a talk. I have always had a friend to accompany me to keep me calm. Never saw him on the London stage…….but I have seen him both in Guildford and Woking. The concerts are always fabulous. Usually, after the first two songs a rush to the stage to stand below him and gaze up transfixed watching him sing all your favourites. You can hear a pin drop when he sings the last song “It’s Gonna be Alright”.Thank you to all the friends who came with me on these evenings especially David who paid for my ticket and came with me when he appeared in Guildford promoting his first novel. After his concerts at the Civic Hall, we would all rush around the back to take photographs and get autographs.

2. Kylie Minogue……this was a 14th birthday treat for son no 1. It was in Docklands at the height of her fame after leaving Neighbours. He was so excited. We caught the train from Guildford to Waterloo and then have to use a driverless train to Docklands where the concert was being held. I remember a disgusting Bacon burger that we threw into a bin.    Into the venue…..we found our seats, which was near enough to see her properly. Son no 1…….up on his feet clapping away….there was such a wide age range fro grown-ups all the way down to 3/4 years olds with grannys. An evening never to be forgotten.

3.The Spinners…….another birthday treat at the civic hall in Guildford. We had very good seats. A very good concert.

4.Donovan……..he was my favourite back in the ’60s and I never dreamt that I would ever see him sing on stage. I had to see him….but no one wanted to so I persuaded son no 2 to accompany me this time. It was magic…….to hear him sing all those magical songs made the hair stand up on my back of my neck. That show was a dream come true.

5.Peter Andre…..another never to be forgotten day at Guildfest a music festival held in Stoke Park in Guildford. I went with 4 work colleagues. We had found ourselves at a nice place near the stage the as the time approached the crowd suddenly grew…..we felt surrounded by very young people who when Peter came onto the stage just went crazy……we decided after 20 mins that it was too much for us in noise level and age so we battled our way out of the crowd. A lasting memory is the sight of my coat disappearing through the crowds on the ground. Never saw it again

6 Wayne Dobson…..another treat out with son no1. He was well into Magic and we were in the front row. Going with friend Janet and her daughter. (TJ here – I can make whole websites disappear off the internet!)

7.60’s Tribute bands……As both hubby and I loved music from our youth we sometimes took sons no 2 and 3 to some of these shows. We saw quite a selection of the artistes so I am going to list all that I can remember Marty Wilde, John Leyton, Joe Brown, Freddie/Dreamers, Billy J Kramer, Herman(Peter Noone).

We have also seen Des O’Connor in panto as a family outing, another panto was Russ Abbot, and also John Inman in panto with a works outing.

There may be more but I can not remember them.
