Early Marriage Stuff

As I have written in an earlier blog when hubby and I came down South we ended up living in a tiny annexe connected to a big house to an elderly couple called Goodhart who lived in Inkpen in Berkshire.

As we had left the north with what we could carry a lot of our belongings were left behind in the North. We bought two cups,2 plates, a frying pan and knives. forks and a couple spoons and dishes. My sister in law “lent ” us bedding that she needed back by the winter…..so somehow we had to get stuff down to us.

At first, my mam had planned to bring what she could but in the end, it was Dad that came down with the biggest suitcase that he could carry. Staying with us in the annexe in a room that was next to our bedroom which was I think a junkroom. I don’t think it was very comfortable. He had to climb over our bed to get to where he was and vice versa.

It was like Christmas day seeing what was in the case. My black doll “Pamela Bobo” which I had when I was 6/7 and I still have to this day.

We introduced my Dad to Mrs Goodhard and he complimented her on her lovely garden……told him it looked like a “big park” and I could see from her expression…..that was not a comparison she had expected.

For the life of me what else we did with my dad and I have just asked hubby and he cannot remember either……but we must have entertained him….even taken him to the pub. So a little look into the beginning of our marriage memories.
