My One and Only

Am I talking about a long lost love……..no I am not? I am talking about my one and only tattoo. I was approaching 60 and I did not want a big party or any secret celebrations….so I decided to have a tattoo so hubby paid for it. I decided to have an owl……I love owls as family and friends are aware of. So I found a lovely simple barn owl that would sit lovely on my left shoulder with no legs dangling as I was still working and the legs would not stick outside the sleeve of my uniform.

All my family were so sure that I would not do it so I was determined to even as the day approached I was wondering whether to go through with it or not.

The day dawned and I was so nervous. I decided to go on my own. Has been told to have a sugary iced bun about a half-hour before. My hands felt clammy.

A long walk up Guildford High St to the tattoo parlour where I waited my turn. Asked if I wanted just the outline or parts coloured in so at first I said “just the outline
